Why Ballston Spa Families Come to Saratoga Smiles

Ballston Spa has its own established dental practices, and many families have used the same dentist on Bath Street or Milton Avenue for decades. When a Ballston Spa family decides to drive to us instead, the reasons we hear are usually consistent.

  • One practice for the whole family across decades. Patients of every age are seen in our office. We have families where the grandparents started with us, brought their adult children, and those adult children now bring grandchildren in for first dental visits. We coordinate appointments to minimize trips down Route 50.
  • Complex cases that need start-to-finish planning. Implant cases, full-arch restorations, and rebuilds involving crowns, root canals, and grafting all benefit from being managed by a single doctor who knows the full plan. Dr. Dennis handles the planning, surgery, and final restoration personally — no telephone tag between offices.
  • Looking for a fee-for-service approach. We are not constrained by insurance reimbursement schedules, so we pick materials and treatment approaches based on what holds up best long-term. For patients investing in a significant restoration, the difference shows up 10 or 15 years later.
  • An honest second opinion. Many Ballston Spa patients come to us before committing to a treatment plan recommended elsewhere. We will tell you honestly whether we agree, whether a less invasive option makes sense, or whether the recommendation looks correct as-is.

Getting to Us From Ballston Spa

We are at 6 Carpenter Lane in downtown Saratoga Springs, just off Broadway near the public library and the historic Saratoga Springs courthouse. From the village of Ballston Spa, the most direct route is north on Route 50 for about 7 miles. The drive is typically 12 to 15 minutes, longer during track season in July and August.

From Downtown Ballston Spa

Head north on Milton Avenue, which becomes Route 50 once you leave the village. Continue north past the Curtis Industries area and through Malta. Once you reach Saratoga Springs, Route 50 becomes Broadway. Turn right onto Lake Avenue. Carpenter Lane is the next street on the right.

From the Saratoga County Fairgrounds area

Take Prospect Street to Route 50 north. The route from there is the same: north on Route 50, right onto Lake Avenue in downtown Saratoga Springs, then right onto Carpenter Lane.

From the I-87 Northway

If you are coming from south or east of Ballston Spa via I-87, take Exit 13N (Saratoga Springs / Lake Avenue). Follow Lake Avenue west into downtown Saratoga Springs. We are between Broadway and the library on Carpenter Lane.

Parking

Free street parking is generally available on Carpenter Lane and adjacent streets. There is also a public lot one block south on Lake Avenue if street parking is full, which can happen during summer racing season at the track.

Complex Cases Planned by One Doctor, Start to Finish

For routine cleanings or a single filling, any competent practice will do. The Ballston Spa families who drive to Saratoga Smiles instead typically have something more involved going on. A failing crown that has been hanging on for years. Several teeth missing on one side, making chewing uncomfortable. An old denture that has stopped fitting. A long-deferred implant case that needs to finally happen.

A Ballston Spa patient we will call Margaret came to us last fall referred by her adult daughter, who had been a patient of ours for three years. Margaret was 71 and had been wearing the same upper denture for nine years. It had stopped fitting well, she had given up on adhesives, and she was tired of feeling limited at family dinners. She came in expecting we would make her a new conventional denture.

What she ended up with, after a 3D scan and a 45-minute conversation about her options, was four implants and a modified version of her existing denture that snaps onto them. The cost was higher than a new conventional denture, but lower than starting from scratch with implants, and the change in her daily life has been substantial. She eats Thanksgiving with the family this year without thinking about her teeth.

That is the kind of case where having one doctor plan the whole arc — surgery, healing, restoration, follow-up — actually matters. Meet Dr. Dennis for more on our approach to complex restorative and implant cases.

Yes. Many of our Ballston Spa patient families include parents, children, and grandparents on the same practice schedule. Dr. Dennis is comfortable seeing patients from first dental visits through retirement-age comprehensive care. We coordinate appointment times so a family can come in together when that works better than separate trips.

Yes. Dr. Dennis personally plans, places, and restores dental implants, including single-tooth, multiple-tooth, All-on-4 full-arch, and implant-retained dentures. Complex restorative cases involving multiple crowns, root canals, and grafting are also planned start-to-finish in our practice. No referral hopping between offices for the surgical and restorative phases.

We are a fee-for-service practice, which means we do not participate as in-network with any specific insurance plan. We do file claims on your behalf with most insurance companies, and most patients receive reimbursement directly. FSA, HSA, and CareCredit financing are widely accepted. Our front desk team will walk through your specific coverage during a consultation. See our financial information page for full details.

Yes. We see children as young as 18 months for first dental visits, with adjustments to make the experience easy. A first visit is mostly about getting comfortable with the chair, the light, and a gentle look at the teeth. Many of our pediatric patients are siblings or children of adult patients we already see.

Yes. We offer oral sedation (a pill taken before the appointment) and IV sedation for longer procedures. Many Ballston Spa patients who have avoided major dental work for years because of anxiety find sedation a comfortable way to catch up on care. See our sedation dentistry page for details.

Call us at (518) 584-5060 as early in the day as possible. We hold same-day slots specifically for dental emergencies including broken teeth, lost crowns, and severe pain. Plan for about 15 to 20 minutes of drive time from Ballston Spa. Our guide on missing or broken teeth walks through what to do in the meantime.

For comprehensive new-patient exams, we schedule about 2 to 4 weeks out. Implant or major restorative consultations are often available within 1 to 2 weeks. Same-day emergency appointments are usually possible. Routine cleaning appointments are typically 2 to 3 weeks out from your first call.
